John Abraham to Force for 10 pack –abs

It was Aamir Khan in Ghajini, who stealth the show after obtaining eight packs crossing SRK”s six pack in Om Shanti Om. Now, it’s the turn of hunk John Abraham to cross Aamir’s 8-pack and to sport a ten pack for his upcoming flick titled “force”.
Sources suggest that the “Dostana” actor was keen on getting ten-packs as he thinks that the role he is playing requires it. John is playing the role of a police-officer in the film. It seems that he maintained a strict diet to achieve ten-packs for the role. Produced by Vipul shah and directed by Nishikant Kamat of Mumbai Meri Jaan fame, Force is the remake of 2003 Tamil hit “Kaaka Kaaka” which had Suriya in the lead.
Force sees Genelia D’souza playing John’s love interest. One wonders that force is already having some positive vibrations considering that SRK and Aamir, who both sported abs look for the first time in their career was paid off well at the box-office. Well, we wish John and his force team all the best.

Dogs can smell Cancers

It has been a universal facts that Dogs are always been a master of smelling. Once again it has been proved right in cancer detection. Puzzled, how dogs do that…
A study conducted in Kyushu University in Japan under the research of Dr. Hideto Sonoda. It has been found that dogs apparently smelled 12 types of cancers. Dogs are trained for water rescue until cancer study.
The sole aim of the study is whether can be detected by its odour or not.
In the study made by Sonoda on 40 cancer patients and 320 healthy people and test was conducted from November to June, as dog’s sensory smelling power decreases in sultry summer. They discovered that, eight years old female Labrador can smell the odour cancer with cent percent accuracy.
The test was undertaken three times and they have found that, dogs can smell colorectal cancer even people who are smokers and suffering from stomach diseases.
They concluded in the report that a particle scent exists for cancer cells.

Obesity can cause irreparable damage to knees

Being morbidly obese could permanently damage your knees, says a new study.
The investigation included a group of morbidly obese patients with knee osteoarthritis who were evaluated before and after bariatric surgery or surgically-assisted weight loss.
Patients lost an average of 51 pounds or 23 kg in one year. One year after surgery, knee pain and function improved significantly.
“People felt there was nothing they could do to mitigate the debilitating effects of knee arthritis, but now we know that surgically-assisted weight loss is a way that folks can help themselves,” says Michael S. Sridhar, co-investigator and resident at Emory University.
“However, there is probably some element of irreparable damage from being morbidly obese that may constrain the improvement in knee pain despite significant weight loss,” he added, according to an Emory statement.
Another study found that complication rates for total joint replacement (TJR) patients may increase for “super-obese” patients. It compared the outcomes after TJR in 137 “super-obese” patients versus 63 non-obese patients.
Ran Schwarzkopf, co-investigator and chief resident of New York University Hospital for Joint Diseases, and his research team found that the number of overall complications were significantly higher for the “super-obese” compared to non-obese.
These studies were presented at the 2011 Annual Meeting of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS).

Ronaldo retires

Brazil’s soccer icon Ronaldo Nazario, shed a few tears as he announced his retirement citing “some important reasons”, which include his interminable injuries and problems caused by hypothyroidism.
“Today I come to say that I’m closing my career as a professional player. It was a beautiful, wonderful, emotional career. I had a lot of defeats, a lot of victories, I made many friends and I don’t remember making any enemies,” the 34-year-old striker told a press conference in Sao Paulo Monday.
“It’s very hard to say goodbye to something that made me so happy, that I loved so much and with which I wanted to continue, because psychologically I really want to, but I have to accept some losses. I lost for my body’s sake,” said Ronaldo, the three-time winner of the world’s best soccer player award.
Accompanied by his two children, Alex and Ronald, and the president of his current club Corinthians, Andres Sanchez, the man who helped lead Brazil to two World Cup championships said that his history of injuries is public knowledge.
“Everyone knows my history of injuries: if it wasn’t one leg it was the other, if it wasn’t one muscle it was another…and these pains made me end my career sooner than I would have liked,” he said.
Ronaldo said that problems caused by the hypothyroidism that was diagnosed four years ago and that he always kept secret was also a consideration in his decision.
“Four years ago when I was with Milan, I found out I was suffering from hypothyroidism, an ailment that slows the metabolism, and I knew that to control it I had to take some hormones that are banned in soccer,” he said.
“A lot of people should regret now that they made so much fun of my weight, but I’m not mad at anyone,” the footballer, who played for clubs such as Barcelona, Real Madrid, Inter Milan and AC Milan said, referring to the criticism for his weight.
He said his future is already decided and that he will divide it between a sports promotion agency and a soon-to-be-established charitable foundation.

Food prices at ‘dangerous’ highs: World Bank

World Bank President Robert Zoellick has warned that food prices had reached “dangerous levels” and could hamper political transitions taking place in Egypt, Tunisia, the wider Middle East and Central Asia.
“The area that obviously bears watching is where you have a combination of political upheaval and food price stress,” Zoellick said in a conference call with reporters in Washington Tuesday.
The World Bank said that global food prices on average were 29 percent higher in January than a year earlier and just 3 percent below a peak reached in 2008, when the rising cost of food sparked deadly riots in many parts of the developing world.
The rising costs had pushed 44 million people back into extreme poverty, and Zoellick urged leaders of the Group of 20 (G20) bloc of leading global economies to make the food crisis their top priority. G20 finance ministers are meeting Friday and Saturday in France.
“Global food prices are now at dangerous levels. It is already clear recent price rises for food are causing pain and suffering to poor people around the globe,” Zoellick said.
While rising food costs had not been the chief cause of Egypt’s uprising, Zoellick said the spike in prices had been an “aggravating factor” in the three-week protests that eventually toppled Egyptian leader Hosni Mubarak.
Zoellick said he was more worried about the impact of prices going forward, as Egypt’s military takes power and guides the most populous Arab country toward democratic elections in September. The same applied to Tunisia, where the wave of protests began with the ouster of long-time leader Zine el-Abidine Ben Ali in January.
“I’m concerned that higher food prices could add to stress points and could add to the fragility that is already there,” Zoellick said.
A US Treasury official in Washington acknowledged that surging food prices and the ensuing dangers of inflation were likely to be a top issue for developing countries at the G20 talks this weekend.
Outside of the Middle East, Zoellick said rising food prices could impact stability in Central Asia.
“Given the poverty levels (in Central Asia) … there’s a real stress point that could have social and political implications,” Zoellick said.

I will stay the course: PM

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Wednesday said he had never felt like resigning because he had a job to do and there was a lot of unfinished business.
“I have never felt like quitting, I will stay the course,” the prime minister said during a media interaction at 7, Race Course Road, his official residence.
“I never felt like resigning because I had a job to do,” Manmohan Singh said in response to a question on whether he felt like quitting over the many allegations of corruption against his government.
He added that he had “never thought of giving up half way”.
“The country voted our party to be the leader of the UPA (United Progressive Alliance) coalition and we have a lot of unfinished business to accomplish,” he added.
The second five-year term of the UPA, called UPA-II, began on 2009 and is going to enter its half-year mark later this year.
The prime minister also said that he was not afraid of appearing before any committee, including a joint parliamentary committee (JPC).
“I am not afraid of appearing before any committee. The PAC (Public Accounts Committee) is the giant parliamentary committee presided over by a senior member of the opposition. I have declared that I am willing to appear before the PAC, so I am not afraid to appear before any committee, including a JPC ,” he added in his interaction that lasted for over an hour.
“And this is wrong impression that I was blocking the agreement about the the JPC because I don’t want to appear before theJPC. I have said that as PM my conduct should be like Caesar’s wife, above suspicion and am prepared to appear before any committee,” he stressed.
“In a coalition government, there is a coalition dharma. Things are not entirely the way I would like them to be…,” he stated.
The prime minister, in response to a question, also said it was too early to speculate on the next prime minister as there was still a “long way to go” before the next election scheduled for 2014.

Dostana 2 is finally on tracks

After much speculation about the rift between director Tarun Mansukhani and producer Karan Johar, Dostana 2 is finally gearing upto to have a Muhurat at the end of this year. Dostana released in the year 2008 with a warm response from the audience. In Dostana 2 actors Abhishek Bachchan and John Abraham are set to reprieve their respective roles with Katrina Kaif giving them the company instead of Priyanka Chopra.
The makers of the film had creative differences over the second half of the film, reveals a source leading to the film getting delayed. It seems the differences got sidelined after the director Tarun worked on it to give it a perfect shape with additional characters such as Riteish Deshmukh and Abhay Deol. The two will be supposedly playing a gay couple in the film.
Sources also suggested that the sequel would be completely comedy-driven considering the addition of Riteish Deshmukh and Abhay deol.
The film might also feature Raaz star Dino Morea in a cameo role. The first part which was produced by Karan Johar will have the partnership pf UTV this time around as they would by co-producing and distributing Dostana 2.

Asin will be seen as a second heroine opposite Rajini in one of his triple roles. By casting the beautiful divas in Rana it would be a great advantage for the film makers as they are planning to make the film in Tamil Telugu and Hindi.
Director KS Ravikumar is directing this periodic film and Rajini will be seen in triple roles. Sonu Sood is playing the role of antagonist. Soundarya’s Ocher Studios Pvt Ltd and Eros International are jointly producing the film. Music is by AR Rahman while Ratnavelu is working as a cinematographer for the film. Tendulkar to play final warm-up, Zaheer rested

At the very last chance to test their combination before the World Cup, India will field their full-strength batting line-up in a 50-over game for the first time in 15 months. The batsmen had faltered against Australia on Sunday but will be bolstered by the return of Sachin Tendulkar against New Zealand.
Tendulkar had missed that warm-up game because of a niggle but will play on Wednesday, in what will be his third one-day match since his double-century against South Africa in Gwalior a year ago. He had a long batting session on Tuesday morning during India's practice, and also spent time working on his fielding, showing no signs of the hamstring injury that forced him to return home midway through the one-day series in South Africa a month ago.
Tendulkar will displace Gautam Gambhir from the top of the order to No. 3, the position at which Virat Kohli had much of his recent success. Kohli's form swept him to second spot in the ICC one-day rankings, but even that hasn't ensured him a place in the starting line-up. Wednesday's game will give Kohli a chance to show his prowess lower down the order, perhaps at No .6, a position where another contender, Suresh Raina, is considered a better bet.
The other player in India's squad to miss the first warm-up, Zaheer Khan, will sit out of the sold-out game against New Zealand as well. MS Dhoni was quick to emphasise that Zaheer, who has been injury prone, would be fit in time for the World Cup opener against Bangladesh on February 19. "He has a very, very mild groin strain, nothing to worry about," Dhoni said. "We can give him rest, so we are giving him rest, and will use him when the proper tournament starts."
Zaheer didn't bowl in the nets on Tuesday, though he batted for 45-minutes and also tested himself with a series of short sprints under the supervision of physiotherapist Nitin Patel. Zaheer is the only fast bowler guaranteed a starting place, and his absence gives the others - Ashish Nehra, Sreesanth and Munaf Patel - who had little work against Australia another opportunity to audition for the World Cup.
India had sneaked to victory two days ago despite the below-par score and the initial ineffectiveness of the seamers because their spinners demolished the Australian batting. Piyush Chawla, the legspinner who was the most debated selection in India's World Cup squad, was the star, ripping out the middle-order during a spell of 5-0-9-4. Under Dhoni, India have generally played three-seamers and one-specialist spinner, with a spinning allrounder and part-timers combining for the remaining ten overs. Another strong performance from Chawla will leave Dhoni pondering the inclusion of two specialist slow bowlers, especially on turning tracks, and only two quicks.
In the previous World Cup tune-up at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, South Africa had crushed Zimbabwe by eight wickets after bundling them out for 152. Their captain, Graeme Smith, had been critical of the pitch, terming it "slow and dead" and "under-prepared", and called for better surfaces in the actual tournament. Dhoni wasn't sure how the Chennai track would play but urged the Indian side to lift their performance. "We need to pick up a bit of intensity on the field," he said. "This being the last warm-up game, the intensity should be a bit up on the field [compared to the game against Australia]."

Spinners star in dramatic Indian win

India 214 (Sehwag 54, Lee 3-35) beat Australia (Ponting 57, Chawla 4-31, Harbhajan 3-15) by 38 runs

Indian fans who left the Chinnaswamy Stadium after watching Australia control the first 70 overs of the high-profile warm-up match on Sunday will be kicking themselves. An early finish seemed likely when Australia coasted to 116 for 1 in 21 overs after rolling over India for 214, and there was an early finish, but it was India who ran out victors as Australia lost their final nine wickets for 58 runs.
A massive crowd befitting an actual World Cup game had turned up to cheer India, expecting much from the star-studded batting line-up, but it was the less-heralded spinners, led by Piyush Chawla, who gave them plenty to shout about. Chawla spun out four middle-order batsmen before Harbhajan Singh applied the finishing touches to a back-from-the-dead victory.
Australia made a solid beginning to the chase as Shane Watson kick-started the innings with a bunch of boundaries. Ricky Ponting and Tim Paine then carried their side halfway to the target before things started to fall apart for Australia. Paine had lashed four fours in the first six overs but got bogged down after that, and fell trying to clear long-on, where Munaf Patel sprinted to his right to take a sharp catch. During the 67-run stand between Paine and Ponting, Chawla went for 22 runs in four overs.
His second spell transformed the game. In his first over back - immediately after Paine was dismissed - Chawla had Michael Clarke playing-on for a duck. Four overs later, Cameron White chipped a legbeak to midwicket, and David Hussey picked up a golden duck, drawn forward by Chawla before being beaten by the turn. Australia had slid to 138 for 5, and the first Mexican wave of the day made its way around the ground as the fans found their voice again. Callum Ferguson probably had the worst time of the lot: in a nine-ball stay, he was nearly run-out, was dropped at first slip, inside-edged a drive to square leg, was beaten by a vicious turner from Chawla and finally nicked one to slip. Chawla's second spell was 5-0-9-4, and it provided more questions for the Indian selectors.
Harbhajan, who was off the field for a while, returned to remove Ponting through a quicksilver stumping from MS Dhoni, and the rest of the Australian batting folded. There was help for the spinners from the pitch but this was not the minefield the Australian batsmen made it seem.
One consolation for Australia will be the gritty half-century from Ponting, in his first match since the Boxing Day Test. He began with a couple of Chinese cuts against the unlucky R Ashwin, who bowled far better than the scorecard indicates, but soon produced some convincing shots - an on-drive off Ashwin and a pull when Chawla dropped short. Even in a warm-up match, Ponting retained the intensity of old. Sreesanth had some advice for him after a delivery pushed out to cover, and added some more after a strident appeal for caught-behind on the next ball. Ponting wasn't going to just ignore it; he walked up to Sreesanth and doled out some advice of his own. The innings itself wasn't Ponting at his best, but he showed no signs of the finger trouble which sidelined him last month.
The top scorer for India was also a player coming back from injury - Virender Sehwag, whose shoulder problem didn't bother him during his half-century. He began with an effortless push past extra cover for four off a low full toss, but couldn't provide his customary high-speed start since he was starved of strike: he faced only four deliveries in the first five overs. Sehwag was at his most attacking against Jason Krejza, skipping beyond leg and looking to cut four times in Krejza's first over. He carved three fours off Krejza, and blasted him over long-off to reach his fifty, but the offspinner had his revenge by bowling Sehwag next ball.
Before his dismissal Sehwag watched a procession of India's specialist batsmen come and go, none of whom made big contributions. Gautam Gambhir never looked at ease in a short stay before edging to slip; Virat Kohli showed glimpses of class in his 21 before chopping John Hastings to backward point; Yuvraj Singh walked after an indecisive response to a bouncer - initially looking to sway out of the way before feathering the ball to the keeper; Dhoni was bowled for 11, prolonging his fallow spell in one-dayers.
At 113 for 5, with the seniors dismissed, Suresh Raina had a chance to stake his World Cup claim by reviving the innings. He survived the short balls Australia fired at him initially but didn't last very long, nicking Brett Lee as he attempted an on-the-up drive. Once again, it was left to Yusuf Pathan to ensure India put up a fight, and he did with an unusually patient 32 (after being 18 off 34 at one stage).
India made it past 200 thanks to some late resistance from Ashwin and Ashish Nehra but Australia would have been happy with their bowling performance, barring the huge number of wides. Brett Lee was in top form, accurate and slipping in the bouncers and yorkers at pace; Krejza had a decent outing against batsmen looking to attack him, and even their lowest-profile bowler, Hastings, provided two significant breakthroughs.
India's batting, which is their strength, has one more chance to get it together, against New Zealand on Wednesday, when they will have the re-assuring presence of Sachin Tendulkar at the top of the order.
